Jarabe_DC_Bio+Photo.jpg

Jarabe pronounced hah-rah-beh is an inspiration from my childhood upbringings of seeing my father sell paletas and raspados from a push-cart in the streets of East Los Angeles, California, to make a living.

Jarabe which means "syrup" in Spanish specializes in serving handcrafted Mexican-style gourmet pops along with a variety of Latino sweets and treats. With a modern touch, Jarabe hopes to showcase the best of Mexico and Latin America while recreating some of our childhood best sweets. All of our products are handmade with fresh and natural ingredients, no preservatives, additives, no artificial flavoring, and/or coloring.

Hi! I’m Ugochi from @thriftnprosper. I’m originally from Michigan but the DMV has been my home for over a year now. By profession, I’m a Speech-Language Pathologist. By passion, I’m a human rights advocate, avid crafter, and thrifter! Thrifting has largely been incorporated into my life since childhood, and over the years, it has allowed me to further explore sustainable and ethical choices, whether that be through fashion or the environment. Thrifting, for not only myself but others is something I take pride in and an art form I truly enjoy. I believe that the most unique and timeless pieces are thrifted. Thanks for joining me on my thrifted & prosperous journey! Happy thrifting, friends!

Yngrid Chacon

Yngrid Chacon is a Honduran-Dominican visual artist and designer. She first began experimenting with visual arts by drawing characters from her father’s comic books. Inspired by fantasy and sci-fi, Yngrid found herself in a unique position to visualize people and situations in places where she didn’t see POC representation. Upon moving to DC she began visualizing her unique worldview through her art. A mix of pop-culture and Latinx identity, she’s constantly exploring her identity as a woman of colour and a third culture Latinx person through visual art.
