TENDING THROUGH
Written by Briget Heidmous
We are in it, heading into a long weekend and massive change.
Much is shifting, and jostling can leave us feeling uneasy or overstimulated. When we are overwhelmed and need urgent relief, we can take action by self-soothing.
Soothing actions can look like...
changing the environment
stepping outside, or taking a stroll.
stretching your body to move blocked energy.
taking a warm shower or bath to release tension in the body.
playing soothing music.
listening to a familiar guided meditation.
engaging in active breathing meditation or breathwork.
practicing focused breathing, like box breathing.
lighting a candle, adjusting the scent in the room.
Self-soothing at the moment of unease can reduce feelings of burnout and exhaustion long-term.
When we self-soothe, we tell ourselves, "I've got you, buttercup." In doing so, we foster self-trust, which is empowering!
So keep rising to the occasion—meet the day in your power—and drop by the shop if you need a change of scenery.
