DIY Activities for the day
ACTIVITY 1: Indigo Tie-Dye 12-4pm
Get an introduction or refresher on tie-dyeing through the wonderful world of indigo with Sophie Kanter (@alittlechickadee). Indigo is a beautiful dye with a rich history, and this workshop makes it easy and accessible. There are many wonderful patterns you can achieve with simple materials. You will gain knowledge of how to dye with indigo successfully so that you can continue to dye at home.
Instruction will be provided on how to achieve various patterns on your cloth as well as additional information on how to care for your dyed item.
Each participant will receive 1 tea towel to dye with. All other materials will be provided.
You are also encouraged and welcomed to bring your own clothing/item to dye.
ACTIVITY 2: Finger Crochet /Upcycling Yarn from Clothing Workshop
Join The Cozy Experience and learn the process of upcycling fabric scraps into yarn then into an assortment of Cozy things using finger crochet techniques. There will be a station set up for cutting yarn out of the scraps and an introduction into finger crocheting. The goal is for each of you to leave with a finished piece or something you can finish later, along with some new skills!
Supplies: The Cozy Experience will be providing scissors, fabric, and clothing yarn for use. Most of this work is done by hand. For beginners cozy "starts" will be provided to build on-to because starting is the hardest part. For any crochet professionals feel free to show up and show off your skills. Bringing your own textile to upcycle is also encouraged.
