Cyanotype Patches with Sammie Correa | 1:30 - 3:00

Create custom cyanotype patches with Sammie Correa using an array of flora and fauna collected on-site. This photographic method uses the sun to expose UV light-sensitive emulsion to create deep rich blue photograms. Each patch is unique and individualized based on the composition of objects used and exposure time. Suggested donation, $15.

Visual Poetry with Briget Heidmous | 3:00 - 4:30

Visual Poetry is the hybridization of visual art and language for poetic expression. Promoting skills in composition, drawing, collage, and creative language use, Visual Poetry is a fun and low-stakes way to explore our more adventurous and ineffable cognitive connections.

In this workshop, Participants will enjoy a facilitated creative environment and leave with a visual poem of their making. Suggested donation, $15

Melanie Royster (MELROY), Multifaceted Visual Artist. Melanie studied Interior Design at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Arts and is currently working towards growing in her art career. She wants to make people feel and reflect. Melanie’s design style is influenced by Caribbean and West African cultures, stemming in part from her Jamaican background. A lot of her concepts are centered on the power and worth of women, especially women of color.

Sammie Correa

Sammie Correa is a photographer and art educator based in the DMV area. She studied Photography and Art Education at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Using the cyanotype process, she creates unique photographic prints on paper and apparel using flora, fauna, and industrial materials to explore the social dynamics found in latino culture.

Jen Pape Design
